200th Anniversary Celebrations

Saturday 9th July, the sun shone at Copthorne, and the fellowship at the chapel celebrated 200 years since a group of Christians came out from the connexional church in East Grinstead (now West Street Baptist church).

Rev Ian Phillips, and Richard and Marion Hayden, all from Crawley Baptist Church came to entertain us with singing and Ian brought the Word from John 21.

The chapel was full and, with two weddings and a ministerial induction all being arranged for the same day, they gave thanks for all those who came. After the service a tea was spread and enjoyed, with a special cake being made and eaten.

Ian gave the message that we look back on 200 years, with all those who have come to faith there, and give thanks, and we pray that it will continue for many years to come, to be a Christian witness to the local area and beyond.
